COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering Science (Management) in Mechatronic Engineering is a postgraduate program designed to integrate advanced mechatronics knowledge with leadership, innovation, and management skills. The program is structured across 32 units, beginning with 10 units of compulsory courses that cover global engineering practice, engineering innovation and leadership, control engineering, and management communication, providing a strong foundation in both technical and professional skills. Students then complete 4 to 8 units of research project work, where they undertake independent or supervised research in mechatronics, developing advanced problem-solving, analytical, and systems integration abilities. The discipline elective component (0 to 10 units) allows students to specialise in areas such as digital system design, computer vision and deep learning, digital signal processing, advanced manufacturing, materials engineering, additive manufacturing, and experimental design methods. In addition, 8 to 14 units of management electives develop capabilities in entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability, international business, marketing, project management, and leadership. These courses prepare students to understand both the technical complexity of automated and intelligent systems and the organisational strategies required to manage engineering projects effectively. Overall, the program equips graduates with a strong blend of mechatronic engineering expertise and management capability, enabling them to work in advanced automation, robotics, and intelligent systems industries while taking on leadership roles in global engineering environments.
