COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering Science (Management) in Mechanical Engineering is a postgraduate program designed to integrate advanced mechanical engineering knowledge with leadership, innovation, and business management skills. The program is structured across 32 units, beginning with 6 units of compulsory courses that focus on global engineering practice, engineering innovation and leadership, and management communication, ensuring students develop strong professional and organisational skills. Students then complete 4 to 8 units of research project work, where they undertake independent or supervised study in mechanical engineering topics, developing advanced analytical, design, and problem-solving abilities. The discipline elective component (4 to 14 units) allows students to specialise in areas such as computational fluid dynamics, advanced manufacturing, additive manufacturing, materials for energy systems, control engineering, and experimental design techniques. In addition, 8 to 14 units are dedicated to management electives, which develop skills in entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability, international business, marketing, project management, and leadership. These courses prepare students to understand both technical engineering systems and the strategic decision-making required in modern industries.
