COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering Science (Management) in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering is a postgraduate program designed to integrate advanced materials science, manufacturing technologies, and management skills to prepare graduates for leadership roles in modern engineering industries. The program is structured across 32 units, beginning with 6 units of compulsory courses that cover professional engineering practice, global business environments, innovation, leadership, and management communication. Students then complete 4 to 8 units of research project work, allowing them to investigate advanced topics in materials and manufacturing engineering through independent or supervised study. The discipline elective component (4 to 14 units) enables specialisation in areas such as nanomaterials, advanced manufacturing, materials characterisation, environmental performance of materials, additive manufacturing, aerospace composites, and energy materials. In addition, students complete 8 to 14 units of management electives, which develop expertise in entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability, international business, marketing, project management, and organisational leadership. This combination ensures that graduates gain both deep technical knowledge and strong business and leadership capabilities. The program prepares students to work at the intersection of engineering and management, enabling them to design, optimise, and lead advanced manufacturing processes while also making strategic decisions.
