COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering Science (Management) in Electrical Engineering is a postgraduate program designed to combine advanced electrical engineering expertise with management, leadership, and professional practice skills. The program consists of 32 units structured across foundational, compulsory, research, elective, and management components. Students may complete up to 6 units of foundational courses covering areas such as operating systems, computer networks, embedded systems, signals and control, electromagnetic fields, and electrical energy systems, depending on their background. A core set of 6 units includes advanced computational techniques in engineering, research methods, and management communication, ensuring strong analytical, technical, and professional communication skills. The program also includes 2 to 8 units of research project work, where students undertake independent or supervised research or development activities in electrical engineering. Discipline electives (6 to 16 units) allow specialisation in areas such as power systems, renewable energy integration, microwave communications, biomedical engineering, and electromagnetics. Breadth electives (0 to 10 units) expand learning into fields such as robotics, computer vision, control systems, and advanced electronics. In addition, 6 to 12 units of management electives develop skills in entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability, international business, marketing, and leadership. Overall, the program prepares graduates for senior engineering roles by integrating advanced technical knowledge with strategic management and leadership capabilities, enabling them to solve complex electrical engineering challenges in global industry contexts.
