COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering Science (Management) in Bioprocess Engineering is a postgraduate program designed to integrate advanced biotechnology, engineering principles, and management skills to prepare graduates for leadership roles in bio-based industries. The program is structured across multiple flexible study components, including 6 to 8 units of core bioprocess engineering courses, 4 to 8 units of research project work, 4 to 10 units of advanced Level 7 electives, up to 4 units of Level 6 electives, and 12 units of management electives. The technical core builds expertise in areas such as bioprocess engineering, biomaterials, metabolic engineering, and cell and tissue engineering, providing a strong foundation in modern biotechnology applications. Students may also undertake research-focused study through a project or thesis, developing practical and analytical skills to address real-world engineering and bioprocessing challenges. The elective structure allows further specialisation in fields such as biotechnology commercialisation, synthetic biology, food bioprocessing, protein technology, biostatistics, and computational applications. Management electives broaden students’ capabilities in entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability, international business, marketing, and leadership, enabling them to bridge the gap between technical expertise and organisational decision-making. Overall, the program prepares graduates to lead innovation in biotechnology and related industries by combining deep scientific knowledge with strong business, management, and strategic skills in a rapidly evolving global bioeconomy.
