COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Electrical Engineering (Professional) consists of 32 units and is designed to develop advanced technical knowledge, research capability, and professional engineering skills. The program includes 8 units of core courses that provide a strong foundation in key electrical engineering areas such as power systems, electronics, control systems, and telecommunications, ensuring students develop essential theoretical and applied understanding. Students then complete 4 to 8 units of research project courses, which involve a two-semester research or industry-based project where they gain experience in solving complex engineering problems and managing large-scale technical work. In addition, 6 to 8 units are taken from advanced undergraduate elective courses, which help strengthen and broaden technical knowledge in specific engineering topics. A further 8 to 14 units are selected from postgraduate elective courses, allowing students to specialise in advanced areas of electrical engineering and align their studies with career goals or industry demands. Students may also complete up to 6 units from breadth elective courses, which provide exposure to interdisciplinary subjects beyond electrical engineering. Overall, the program combines structured core learning, flexible electives, and practical research experience to prepare graduates for professional engineering roles. It equips students with strong analytical, design, and problem-solving skills, enabling them to contribute effectively to innovation, infrastructure development, and advanced engineering projects in global industries.
