COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Educational Studies (MEdSt) is a two-year postgraduate program consisting of 32 units designed to develop advanced knowledge and professional skills in education. The program begins with 8 units of Foundational Courses that introduce key areas such as language in education planning, educational studies, theories of development and learning, and global Indigenous knowledge and education. These courses provide a strong theoretical base for understanding contemporary educational systems and practices. Students then complete 4 units of Core Courses focused on educational inquiry and research, including evidence-based policy and research methods, which develop essential skills in academic investigation and data-informed decision-making. The program also includes 8 to 20 units from Fields of Study, allowing students to specialise in areas such as behaviour support, curriculum studies, guidance and counselling, inclusive education, leadership, psychology education, or the science of learning. Students may also choose to complete two fields of study depending on their academic and career goals. In addition, 0 to 12 units are taken from program electives, which may include subjects such as TESOL, educational policy, practicum experience, mediation, mathematics, statistics, or environmental studies. Research or project options are also available for deeper academic engagement. Overall, the program prepares graduates for professional roles in education, policy, leadership, counselling, and specialist educational practice across diverse learning environments.
