COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Dietetics Studies (MDietSt) is a professional postgraduate program consisting of 32 units designed to prepare graduates for practice as qualified dietitians. The program is heavily structured, with 30 units dedicated to core courses that provide comprehensive training in nutrition science, dietetics practice, and clinical application. These core courses cover essential areas such as human nutrition, food science, medical nutrition therapy, public health nutrition, and evidence-based practice. Students also develop practical skills in clinical assessment, dietary planning, counselling, and communication to support individuals and communities with diverse nutritional needs. A strong emphasis is placed on integrating scientific knowledge with real-world clinical practice, ensuring students are well-prepared for professional healthcare environments. The remaining 2 units are taken as program electives, allowing students to broaden or tailor their learning in a specialised area of interest within dietetics or related health sciences. Throughout the program, students engage in supervised practical training placements in hospitals, community health settings, and other healthcare facilities, where they apply theoretical knowledge to real patient care situations. The program focuses on developing professional competence, ethical practice, and strong analytical skills.
