COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Commerce (MCom) is a two-year postgraduate program consisting of 32 units designed to build strong foundations in commerce, economics, finance, and management while allowing flexibility through specialisation. Students begin by completing 8 units of core courses, which include Accounting, Information Systems for Management, Economics for Commerce, and Finance, providing essential knowledge across key business disciplines. These core courses also support professional accreditation pathways such as CAANZ and CPA Australia for students undertaking the required accounting subject. After the core stage, students complete 12 units in one chosen Field of Study, selecting from Applied Finance, Information Systems, or Professional Accounting, depending on their career interests. The remaining 12 units allow further specialisation through either a second Field of Study or a combination of elective options. Electives may include advanced coursework in areas such as cyber security governance, global economics, econometrics, international business, law and technology, business consultancy projects, or industry placements. Students may also choose research-focused courses, including quantitative and qualitative research methods, corporate finance, and honours-level subjects, to strengthen analytical and academic skills. The program structure ensures flexibility while maintaining academic rigour, enabling students to tailor their degree toward professional, research, or industry-focused careers in commerce, finance, and business-related fields.
