COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Civil Engineering (Professional) is structured around a total of 32 units, combining core technical knowledge, research training, and a wide range of elective options to develop advanced engineering expertise. The programme includes 6 units of core courses that provide foundational and advanced knowledge across key civil engineering areas such as structural, geotechnical, water, environmental, and transportation engineering. Students also complete 4 units dedicated to research project work, allowing them to engage in an in-depth investigation of a specialised engineering problem under academic supervision. This research component develops independent analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to apply engineering theory to real-world challenges. In addition, students take 10 units of advanced undergraduate electives, which strengthen and broaden their technical understanding in civil engineering principles and applications. The remaining 12 units are selected from postgraduate elective courses, enabling students to specialise further in areas aligned with their interests and career goals. These electives allow flexibility to tailor the degree towards specific fields such as infrastructure design, environmental systems, or transportation engineering.
