COURSE CURRICULUM

The MBioinfResEx Master of Bioinformatics (2-year duration) is a 32-unit program designed to provide advanced training in computational biology, research methodology, and applied bioinformatics, with a strong emphasis on independent research. Students may complete 0 to 4 units of MBioinfResEx Foundational Courses, selecting from subjects such as Introduction to Proteins and Nucleic Acids or Introduction to Programming, or other approved preparatory courses, to strengthen essential background knowledge. A compulsory 8 units of MBioinfResEx Core Courses forms the academic foundation, covering Bioinformatics 1: Introduction, Bioinformatics 2: Development & Research, Advanced Genome Informatics, and Applications of Computational Statistics. The major component consists of 16 to 20 units of MBioinfResEx Research Project Courses, where students undertake extensive supervised research through options such as research projects, advanced research seminars, or long-term thesis-style investigations, enabling deep specialization and practical problem-solving experience. Additionally, students may complete 0 to 8 units of MBioinfResEx Program Elective Courses, choosing from areas such as genomics, molecular systems biology, machine learning, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, data mining, databases, and statistical genetics. This flexible yet research-intensive structure ensures graduates develop strong analytical, computational, and experimental skills, preparing them for high-level careers in bioinformatics research, biotechnology industries, healthcare analytics, and doctoral study opportunities globally.
