COURSE CURRICULUM

The two-year Master of Agricultural Science (MAgrSc) program comprises 32 units and is designed to provide advanced scientific knowledge, research expertise, and practical skills for addressing contemporary agricultural and environmental challenges. The program begins with 8 units of foundational courses, including Leadership in Rural Industries and Communities, Global Challenges in Agriculture, Plant Physiology, and Sustainable Soil Management, which establish a strong understanding of agricultural systems, leadership, and sustainable resource use. Students then complete 10 to 14 units of flexible core courses tailored to their interests, with options such as Advanced Agronomy, Integrated Crop Health and Management, Crop Physiology, Agricultural and Resource Policy, International Agricultural Development, Horticulture Production, and Plant Protection. A significant research component develops analytical and investigative capabilities through Advanced Research Methodologies and additional research project courses, allowing students to undertake independent research under the guidance of academic experts. The program also offers up to 6 units of electives, enabling students to broaden their expertise in areas such as plant breeding, pasture management, agribusiness, plant pathology, horticultural science, stakeholder engagement, and industry placement. Additional general electives provide further flexibility to personalise the degree. Graduates gain strong leadership, problem-solving, technical, and research skills, preparing them for professional careers in agricultural production, research, agribusiness, policy development, environmental management, and sustainable agricultural innovation both nationally and internationally.
