COURSE CURRICULUM

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) program requires completion of 64 units across four structured years of core medical training designed to progressively develop clinical knowledge, practical skills, and professional competence. In Year 1, students complete 16 units focused on foundational medical sciences, basic clinical skills, professional practice, and the role of the doctor, providing essential knowledge of human biology and introductory patient care. In Year 2, another 16 units are completed through clinical practice placements, where students develop diagnostic reasoning, learn to recognise and manage common medical conditions, and strengthen communication and patient interaction skills within supervised healthcare environments. Year 3 involves 16 units of advanced clinical immersion across hospital and community settings, where students take on greater responsibility in patient care, engage in structured workplace-based learning, and refine their ability to integrate clinical knowledge with real-world decision-making. In Year 4, the final 16 units focus on transition to practice and internship readiness, where students function as near-independent members of clinical teams, consolidating their skills in diagnosis, management, teamwork, and professional judgement. Across all four years, the program ensures a continuous progression from foundational knowledge to advanced clinical competence, preparing graduates to enter internship and subsequent medical practice with confidence, professionalism, and a strong commitment to patient care and community health outcomes.
