COURSE CURRICULUM

The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) is a structured three-year specialist program comprising a total of 48 units, with 16 units completed in each academic year. In Year 1, students focus on foundational advanced coursework and early clinical training, building essential knowledge in their chosen specialty area alongside core scientific principles, diagnostic methods, and introductory clinical practice. This stage helps develop strong theoretical understanding and basic specialist skills. In Year 2, students progress to more advanced clinical training and applied coursework, taking on increasingly complex cases under supervision. They refine diagnostic abilities, treatment planning skills, and evidence-based decision-making while gaining greater independence in clinical practice. In Year 3, the emphasis shifts to high-level clinical competence, specialist practice, and consolidation of skills required for independent professional work. Students manage complex patient cases, demonstrate advanced clinical judgement, and further integrate research into practice. Across all three years, the program ensures continuous development of scientific reasoning, clinical expertise, and professional competence within specialties such as orthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, prosthodontics, oral medicine, dento-maxillofacial radiology, and special needs dentistry. The structured progression from foundational learning to advanced clinical mastery prepares graduates for specialist registration, supported by extensive hands-on experience, research engagement, and supervised clinical placements in high-quality healthcare environments.
