COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Mathematics dual degree requires completion of 64 units, comprising 32 units from Music and 32 units from Mathematics. The Music component includes 24 units of core courses and 8 units of flexible core courses, providing comprehensive training in performance, musicianship, music theory, and creative practice. Students develop strong technical proficiency in their chosen instrument or voice, while also building broader musical skills through ensemble participation, composition, and interpretative study. The flexible core courses allow limited customisation to support individual interests within music, such as performance, composition, or music technology. The Mathematics component consists of 12 units of core courses, 16 units from one selected mathematics major, and 4 units of program electives. This structure builds a strong foundation in advanced mathematical concepts including calculus, linear algebra, probability, discrete mathematics, and mathematical modelling, while enabling specialisation in an area aligned with the student’s interests. Through the major and electives, students develop advanced analytical reasoning, problem-solving abilities, and quantitative skills. By combining music with mathematics, the dual degree fosters both creative and logical thinking, preparing graduates for diverse career pathways in fields such as music technology, sound engineering, data analysis, education, research, and other interdisciplinary areas where innovation and structured thinking are highly valued.
