COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Mathematics/Bachelor of Economics dual degree requires completion of 64 units, comprising 32 units from Mathematics and 32 units from Economics. The Mathematics component includes 12 units of core courses, 16 units from one chosen mathematics major, and 4 units of program electives. This structure provides a strong grounding in advanced mathematical concepts such as calculus, linear algebra, probability, statistics, discrete mathematics, and mathematical modelling, while allowing students to specialise in a chosen area of mathematics. Through the major and electives, students strengthen their analytical reasoning, quantitative problem-solving, and computational skills. The Economics component consists of 12 units of core courses and either 20 units from a combination of economics major and flexible core courses or 20 units from flexible core courses alone. Core studies develop a solid understanding of economic theory, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics, while elective and major options allow students to explore specialised areas such as international trade, public policy, or financial economics. By integrating mathematics with economics, the dual degree develops graduates with strong analytical, statistical, and economic reasoning skills. This combination prepares students for diverse career pathways in finance, government, policy analysis, consulting, data analytics, and research, where advanced quantitative and economic expertise is highly valued in addressing complex real-world challenges.
