COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Mathematics/Bachelor of Computer Science dual degree requires completion of 64 units, comprising 32 units from Mathematics and 32 units from Computer Science. The Mathematics component includes 10 units of core courses, 16 units from one selected mathematics major, and 6 units of program electives. This structure provides a strong foundation in advanced mathematical concepts such as calculus, linear algebra, probability, discrete mathematics, and mathematical modelling, while also enabling students to specialise in a chosen area of mathematics. Through the major and electives, students develop advanced analytical reasoning and quantitative problem-solving skills that are essential for addressing complex theoretical and applied challenges. The Computer Science component consists of 24 units of core courses, along with 2 to 4 units of introductory electives and 4 to 6 units of advanced electives. Core studies focus on algorithms, programming, data structures, systems, and computational theory, while elective courses allow students to deepen their expertise in specialised areas of computing. By combining mathematics with computer science, the dual degree develops graduates with strong technical, analytical, and computational skills. This interdisciplinary training prepares students for careers in software development, data science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, research, and other technology-driven industries where mathematical and computational expertise are highly valued.
