COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Information Technology/Bachelor of Design dual degree requires completion of 64 units, comprising 32 units from Information Technology and 32 units from Design. The Information Technology component includes up to 2 units of foundation courses, 22 units of core courses, 2 units of information technology extension courses, and 6 to 8 units of discipline electives. This structure builds strong foundations in programming, software engineering, data systems, cybersecurity, and user-centred computing, while also allowing students to specialise in areas aligned with their interests. Students develop technical proficiency alongside problem-solving and analytical thinking skills that are essential for modern digital industries. The Bachelor of Design component consists of 28 units of core courses, with an additional 0 to 4 units of program electives and 0 to 4 units of general electives. The design curriculum emphasises creative thinking, visual communication, user experience, interaction design, and studio-based practice, enabling students to develop practical skills through iterative, project-driven learning. By combining structured technical training with creative design exploration, the dual degree prepares graduates to work at the intersection of technology and human-centred innovation. Students gain the ability to design and build digital solutions that are both functional and engaging, opening pathways into careers such as UX/UI design, software development, digital product design, and creative technology industries.
