COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Humanities/Bachelor of Laws (Honours) dual degree requires completion of 80 units, consisting of 32 units in Humanities and 48 units in Laws (Honours). The Humanities component includes 8 units of core courses alongside 24 units from the Western Civilisation Extended Major. This area of study develops a deep, critical understanding of the intellectual traditions that have shaped Western thought, from antiquity through to the modern era. Students engage with foundational texts and ideas across literature, philosophy, politics, art, religion, and history, building strong analytical, interpretive, and communication skills. The program encourages reflective and critical thinking about cultural, ethical, and social questions, preparing students to engage thoughtfully with complex contemporary issues. The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) component comprises 48 units, including 36 units of core law courses and 12 units from flexible core courses. The law curriculum provides comprehensive training in legal principles, reasoning, and practice, developing advanced skills in analysis, research, advocacy, and ethical judgement. Learning is delivered through interactive, seminar-style environments that promote discussion, collaboration, and applied problem-solving. By integrating humanities with an Honours-level law qualification, graduates are equipped with a strong intellectual foundation and professional expertise, enabling them to pursue careers in legal practice, public policy, academia, international organisations, government, and other fields requiring advanced critical thinking and a deep understanding of society and justice.
