COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences/Bachelor of Journalism dual degree requires the completion of 64 units, comprising 32 units from the Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences component and 32 units from the Journalism component. The Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences program provides a comprehensive foundation in anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, nutrition, exercise science, sport psychology, health promotion, and research. Students complete compulsory courses such as Anatomical Basis of Human Movement, Physiology for Human Movement Studies, Nutrition Science, Nutrition in the Lifespan, Exercise Physiology, Psychology of Sport, Physical Activity and Health, and Promoting Health through Physical Activity, Exercise and Diet. The program also includes studies in socio-cultural aspects of sport, First Nations perspectives, contemporary nutrition issues, sport coaching, and industry placement, ensuring both academic and practical learning experiences. The Journalism component consists of 32 units, including 24 units of core journalism courses and 8 units of flexible core courses. These studies develop professional skills in reporting, interviewing, research, storytelling, media production, digital communication, and audience engagement across multiple platforms. By combining expertise in health sciences with journalism and communication, the dual degree equips graduates with the ability to accurately communicate complex health information, preparing them for careers in health and sports journalism, media, communications, public relations, advocacy, and health promotion.
