COURSE CURRICULUM

This dual degree comprises 80 units, combining a 60-unit Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) component with a 20-unit Bachelor of Science component, offering an interdisciplinary pathway that integrates advanced technical engineering training with scientific depth. The engineering component includes 8 units of core foundational courses that establish skills in mathematics, programming and professional engineering practice. Students then complete 52 units in a chosen engineering specialisation such as chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical, mechatronic or software engineering, building strong expertise in design, systems thinking and applied problem-solving across industries such as infrastructure, energy, healthcare, computing and manufacturing. The program also includes structured academic rules that align engineering studies with science prerequisites, particularly in mathematics and statistics, ensuring coherence between the two disciplines. The Bachelor of Science component consists of 20 units, including 16 units from a chosen science major and up to 4 units of foundational or elective science courses. Students can tailor this component across a wide range of scientific fields, allowing flexibility to complement their engineering focus. Additional substitution rules allow integration between mathematics, statistics and science subjects depending on the selected major, ensuring academic consistency and depth. Overall, the program develops graduates with strong analytical, quantitative and technical capabilities, combining engineering problem-solving with scientific inquiry. This prepares students for careers in research, biotechnology, data science, environmental systems, technology development and engineering innovation, where interdisciplinary expertise is highly valued.
