COURSE CURRICULUM

This dual program comprises 80 units, combining a 60-unit Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) component with a 20-unit Bachelor of Mathematics component, designed to integrate advanced engineering practice with strong mathematical theory and analytical capability. The engineering component includes 8 units of core foundational courses that build essential skills in engineering principles, programming and mathematics. Students then complete 52 units in a chosen engineering specialisation such as chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical, mechatronic or software engineering, developing deep technical knowledge and applied problem-solving skills relevant to modern industries including infrastructure, energy systems, computing and advanced manufacturing. The program also includes specific flexibility rules that allow substitution between mathematics and statistics courses depending on the chosen mathematics major, ensuring alignment between theoretical study and engineering application. The Bachelor of Mathematics component consists of 20 units, including 4 units of core mathematics courses that establish advanced quantitative foundations, and 16 units from a selected mathematics major such as Applied Mathematics, Optimisation and Operations Research, Mathematical Artificial Intelligence, Statistics and Mathematical Data Science, Mathematical Physics or Pure Mathematics. This structure enables students to specialise in areas that strengthen modelling, computation and theoretical analysis skills. Overall, the program develops strong interdisciplinary expertise, combining rigorous engineering training with advanced mathematical reasoning.
