COURSE CURRICULUM

This dual program comprises 88 units, combining a 56-unit Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) component with a 32-unit Bachelor of Information Technology component, designed to develop both advanced engineering capability and strong digital technology expertise. The engineering component includes 8 units of core foundational courses that build essential skills in mathematics, programming and professional engineering practice. Students then complete 48 units in one selected engineering specialisation—such as chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical or mechatronic engineering—developing in-depth technical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills relevant to industry contexts like infrastructure, energy systems, manufacturing and emerging technologies. The information technology component consists of 32 units structured to build a strong foundation in computing and applied digital systems. This includes up to 2 units of foundation courses, 22 units of core IT subjects covering areas such as programming, systems design and information management, 2 units of extension coursework to strengthen applied capability, and 6 to 8 units of discipline electives that allow students to tailor their studies to areas such as software development, data systems or networking. Together, the program integrates engineering principles with information technology skills, enabling graduates to design and manage complex technical systems. This combination prepares students for careers in software engineering, systems analysis, IT consulting, engineering design, digital transformation and technology-driven innovation across a wide range of industries.
