COURSE CURRICULUM

The combined Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) program requires the completion of 80 units, integrating advanced economic theory with comprehensive legal education to prepare graduates for high-level professional careers. The Bachelor of Economics component consists of 32 units, including 16 units of core courses that build a strong foundation in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and quantitative analysis, developing essential skills in modelling, forecasting, and economic reasoning to understand how resources are allocated and how economic systems function. Students then complete either 16 units from an economics major or 16 units from flexible core courses, allowing them to specialise in areas such as public policy, financial economics, international economics, behavioural economics, or economic strategy. The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) component comprises 48 units, including 36 units of core law courses that provide a thorough grounding in key legal areas such as contracts, criminal law, constitutional law, property law, administrative law, and equity, while strengthening legal reasoning, analytical thinking, and understanding of the Australian legal system. In addition, students complete 12 units from law electives, enabling further specialisation in fields such as corporate law, human rights law, environmental law, or international law. Together, this dual degree produces graduates with a unique combination of legal expertise and economic insight, equipping them for careers in law, policy development, government, consulting, finance, and international organisations where strong analytical, regulatory, and decision-making skills are in high demand.
