COURSE CURRICULUM

The combined Bachelor of Computer Science and Bachelor of Economics program requires students to complete a total of 64 units of study, combining advanced computing expertise with a strong foundation in economic analysis and decision-making. The Bachelor of Computer Science component accounts for 32 units and includes 24 units of core courses that develop essential technical skills in programming, algorithms, data structures, software engineering, databases, computer systems, and computational problem-solving. Students also complete 2 to 4 units of introductory computer science electives and 4 to 6 units of advanced electives, allowing them to specialise in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, data science, or software development. The Bachelor of Economics component also comprises 32 units and includes 14 units of core economics courses specifically designed for the Computer Science and Economics pathway. These courses build knowledge in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, economic analysis, and quantitative methods. Students then choose either a 16-unit Economics major combined with 2 units of flexible economics courses, or 18 units entirely from flexible economics courses. These options allow deeper study in areas such as public policy, international economics, behavioural economics, financial economics, and economic strategy. This interdisciplinary program develops strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, preparing graduates for careers in technology, economic consulting, data analytics, policy analysis, fintech, software development, and business strategy across a wide range of industries.
