COURSE CURRICULUM

The combined Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Economics program requires students to complete a total of 64 units of study, designed to provide a strong foundation in business, finance, and economic theory alongside specialised analytical expertise. The program begins with 28 units of compulsory core courses that cover essential areas such as management accounting, financial reporting, business information systems, microeconomics, macroeconomics, tools of economic analysis, statistics, econometrics, finance, business law, and management. These core courses ensure students develop a comprehensive understanding of both commercial and economic principles, as well as the analytical and quantitative skills needed for decision-making in modern organisations. Students then complete 16 units from a chosen Commerce major such as accounting, business analytics, business information systems, or finance, allowing for professional specialisation. In addition, students either complete a 16-unit Economics major or 16 units from Economics flexible core courses, which include advanced topics such as behavioural economics, financial economics, econometrics, public policy, international trade, and economic strategy, with a requirement that at least 8 units are at Level 3. Finally, students complete 4 units of general electives, allowing further academic flexibility. This structured yet flexible program equips graduates with strong problem-solving, data analysis, and economic reasoning skills, preparing them for careers in finance, consulting, policy analysis, banking, and global business environments.
