COURSE CURRICULUM

The combined Bachelor of Business Management and Bachelor of Journalism program requires students to complete a total of 64 units of study, designed to develop both strong business expertise and professional journalism skills. The Bachelor of Business Management component accounts for 32 units and includes 16 units of core courses and 16 units from one chosen business major. The core business courses provide foundational knowledge in areas such as accounting, economics, marketing, management, business law, information systems, and organisational behaviour, ensuring students understand how organisations function in modern competitive environments. The Bachelor of Journalism component also consists of 32 units and is structured to build strong professional media and communication skills. It includes 24 units of core journalism courses that focus on news writing, reporting, media ethics, digital storytelling, research, and content production across print, broadcast, and online platforms. In addition, students complete 8 units from flexible core journalism courses, allowing them to explore specialised areas such as investigative journalism, digital media production, or media analysis. This combination ensures students gain both analytical business knowledge and practical journalism expertise. Graduates are well prepared for careers in journalism, digital media, public relations, corporate communications, publishing, and media management, where strong communication skills and business understanding are highly valued.
