COURSE CURRICULUM

The combined Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Social Science program requires students to complete a total of 64 units of study, designed to provide both broad humanities knowledge and focused social science expertise. The Bachelor of Arts component accounts for 32 units and allows students to customise their studies by choosing either two majors or a combination of one extended major and one minor from a wide range of humanities, social sciences, and language disciplines. This flexibility helps students build strong critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills while developing depth in their chosen academic areas. The Bachelor of Social Science component also comprises 32 units and is structured into two parts: 16 units of core courses and 16 units from a selected major. The core courses introduce students to key social science concepts, research methods, and theoretical frameworks used to analyse social issues. The major allows students to specialise in a specific area such as sociology, criminology, public policy, human geography, or development studies, depending on their interests. This structured combination ensures students gain both interdisciplinary understanding and specialised knowledge. Graduates are equipped to analyse and address complex social challenges such as inequality, health disparities, climate change impacts, and community development, preparing them for careers in government, policy, research, NGOs, and international organisations.
