COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences (BHMNSc) is a 48-unit program structured to progressively build knowledge in human movement, exercise science, nutrition, and health across three years of study. It consists of 32 units of core courses and 16 units of pathway options, allowing students to tailor their degree toward specific interests within health and performance fields. The core component is distributed across semesters, beginning with foundational subjects in Year 1 such as biology for human movement and nutrition sciences, sport coaching, health and fitness through diet and exercise, introductory chemistry, anatomy, physiology, and health professions. In Year 2, students advance into more specialised areas including exercise physiology, nutrition science, integrative cell and tissue biology, socio-cultural aspects of sport, health promotion, psychology of sport and physical activity, and contemporary nutrition topics. Year 3 focuses on higher-level learning through research skills development, nutrition and exercise integration, industry placement in sport and physical activity management, and Indigenous perspectives in sport and health professions. The remaining 16 units are selected from pathway options, enabling students to specialise further in areas such as nutrition, exercise science, health promotion, or related interdisciplinary fields. Overall, the program combines scientific knowledge, applied practice, research training, and industry experience to prepare graduates for careers in health, sport, fitness, and nutrition or for further postgraduate study.
