COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Health Sciences (Clinical Health specialisation) is a 48-unit program designed to build a strong foundation in human health, disease, and healthcare systems, combining biomedical science with public health and clinical preparation. Students complete 16 units of core courses covering key areas such as biology for health sciences, public health fundamentals, health systems and policy, health research and evidence, measurement in health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and interdisciplinary thinking around complex health problems. The program then includes 20 units of compulsory clinical specialisation courses that develop deeper scientific and clinical understanding through subjects like biochemistry, human anatomy, cell and tissue biology, physiology and disease, nutrition across the lifespan, health behaviours, health data analysis, major diseases and their control, and introductory chemistry, along with legal and ethical principles in health and a practical health placement experience. The final 12 units are chosen from clinical electives, allowing students to tailor their focus through areas such as neuroanatomy, microbiology, psychology, health promotion, nutrition, public health policy, global health, anthropology, and health research projects, with level requirements ensuring both breadth and advanced study. Overall, the program integrates science, behaviour, policy, and practice to prepare students for clinical postgraduate pathways or health-related careers in public health, healthcare systems, and research.
