COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) program with a specialisation in Electrical Engineering is structured to build strong foundational engineering knowledge alongside advanced technical expertise in electrical systems. The degree begins with 8 units of BE(Hons) Core Courses, which include Professional Engineering, Programming for Engineers, Introduction to Software Engineering, and a sequence of advanced mathematics subjects such as Calculus & Linear Algebra I, Multivariate Calculus & Ordinary Differential Equations, and their advanced equivalents. These core courses develop essential analytical, computational, and problem-solving skills required across all engineering disciplines. In the first year, students may also follow a flexible pathway by completing engineering foundation courses, engineering electives, and preparatory science or mathematics subjects, allowing exploration before selecting a specialisation in second year. The Electrical Engineering Plan Options make up 52 units and focus on designing, analysing, and managing electrical systems used in power generation, communications, electronics, and emerging technologies. Students complete a 36-unit Electrical Engineering specialisation and then choose either a major, minor, or no-major pathway totalling 16 units. Major options include Biomedical Engineering or Computer Engineering, while minors may include Artificial Intelligence, Computing, Data Science, or Design. Advanced and extension courses cover topics such as power systems, signal processing, robotics, control engineering, photonics, and digital systems. This program ensures graduates develop strong technical, analytical, and design skills, preparing them for careers in power industries, telecommunications, electronics, automation, computing, and advanced technology sectors.
