COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Computer Science / Master of Cyber Security vertical dual degree requires students to complete 64 units, combining comprehensive undergraduate studies in computer science with advanced postgraduate training in cyber security. The Bachelor of Computer Science component accounts for 48 units and provides a strong technical foundation through 24 units of core computer science courses covering programming, algorithms, software engineering, databases, computer systems, and computational problem-solving. Students complete between 8 and 16 units of Computer Science plan options to tailor their studies to specific interests, alongside 8 units of articulation courses that create a direct pathway into the Master of Cyber Security component. Depending on their chosen specialisation, students may also undertake prerequisite courses in cryptography and cyber defence, as well as additional program electives to broaden their expertise. The Master of Cyber Security component comprises 16 units and focuses on advanced professional knowledge and practical application. Students complete 8 units in a chosen field of study, allowing them to specialise in key cyber security areas, 6 units of capstone courses that involve solving complex, real-world cyber security challenges, and 2 units of program electives. This integrated structure develops advanced technical, analytical, and strategic skills, preparing graduates to identify, prevent, and respond to cyber threats while pursuing careers in cyber security, information assurance, digital risk management, cyber defence, and security consulting.
