COURSE CURRICULUM

The Diploma in Criminology and Justice at UniSC is a 96-unit program consisting of eight courses designed to provide a foundational understanding of crime, law, and justice systems while allowing students to tailor their studies to specific interests. The curriculum is divided into two main components: 48 units of core discipline courses selected from a specified list, and 48 units of elective study. Students choose from a range of criminology and justice subjects including Introduction to Criminology, Understanding Crime, Punishment and Corrections, Policing, Justice and the Australian Legal System, Criminal Law, Applied Crime Prevention, Criminal Profiling and Intelligence, Homicide, Investigations and Forensic Science, International Justice and Human Rights, Youth Justice and Restorative Justice, Professional Ethics and Integrity Management, Diversity, Crime and Justice, and Working with Victims and Offenders. This flexible structure allows students to build a personalised learning pathway aligned with their academic and career goals while gaining a broad understanding of how crime is defined, investigated, prevented, and managed within society. The elective component further enhances flexibility, enabling students to broaden their knowledge or deepen specific interests across related fields.
