COURSE CURRICULUM

The Diploma in Animal Ecology consists of eight core courses designed to provide foundational knowledge in animal science, ecology, and conservation, preparing students for further study or entry-level roles in environmental fields. The program includes Animal Ecology Field Course, which provides practical, hands-on experience in studying animals in natural habitats, and Endangered Animals and their Conservation, which focuses on the challenges facing threatened species and strategies for biodiversity protection. Students also study Animal Form, Function and Evolution to understand how anatomical and physiological traits influence survival and adaptation, as well as Marine Vertebrates: Sharks, Seabirds, Fish, Turtles and Whales, which explores the diversity and ecology of key marine species. Foundational scientific understanding is developed through Cell Diversity, Biodiversity and Ecology, Science Research Methods, and Discovering Science, which together build essential skills in biological concepts, ecological systems, and scientific investigation. The program emphasizes both theoretical learning and practical fieldwork, helping students develop observational, analytical, and research skills relevant to wildlife and environmental studies. Overall, the diploma provides a strong introduction to animal ecology and conservation science, equipping students with the knowledge needed for further academic progression into a Bachelor of Animal Ecology or related science degrees, as well as entry-level opportunities in conservation, ecotourism, and environmental education roles.
