COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mathematics major within the Bachelor of Science program consists of eight courses that provide comprehensive training in mathematical theory, analytical methods, and applied problem-solving. The curriculum begins with foundational subjects such as Introduction to Applied Mathematics and Introductory Calculus, which develop core mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning skills. Students then progress into more advanced areas including Calculus II and Linear Algebra, Numerical Analysis, Discrete Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Applied Systems Modelling. These courses build understanding of mathematical structures, computational techniques, modelling processes, and data analysis used to solve complex scientific and real-world problems. The major also includes Reading in Advanced Mathematics, which strengthens independent learning, abstract reasoning, and advanced mathematical interpretation. Throughout the program, students develop strong logical thinking, critical analysis, and creative problem-solving abilities that are highly applicable across scientific, technological, and industrial fields. Applied Systems Modelling and Numerical Analysis particularly emphasize the practical use of mathematics in analysing dynamic systems, simulations, and computational challenges. The curriculum progressively advances from introductory principles to higher-level mathematical applications and theoretical understanding.
