COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biotechnology major within the Bachelor of Science program consists of eight courses designed to develop advanced knowledge and practical skills in genetics, molecular science, microbiology, and biotechnology applications. Core subjects include Advanced Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology: Research to Product, Molecular Biotechnology, and Bioinformatics, providing students with a strong understanding of biological systems and modern biotechnological techniques. The major explores how scientific discoveries can be transformed into practical products and solutions in healthcare, agriculture, industry, and environmental management. Students gain expertise in laboratory methods, molecular analysis, genetic technologies, and computational biology, while also learning how biotechnology supports innovation in medicine, pharmaceuticals, and sustainable production. Courses such as Bioinformatics and Molecular Biotechnology introduce students to data-driven scientific approaches and emerging technologies used in research and industry. Students also select one specialised course in either Pharmaceutical and Food Microbiology or Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, allowing further focus on industrial or applied microbiological processes. The program combines theoretical learning with practical scientific training to strengthen analytical thinking, research capability, and technical competence.
