COURSE CURRICULUM

The psychology program is organized into four progressive components: introductory, developing, graduate coursework, and elective or dissertation studies, designed to build both theoretical understanding and research competence. The introductory stage includes foundational subjects such as Introduction to Psychology A and B, Current Directions in Psychology, and Research Methods and Analysis 1, which provide a broad overview of psychological science and basic research skills. The developing stage expands into core areas of the discipline through courses like Physiological Psychology, Human Development, Social Psychology, Motivation and Emotion, Interpersonal and Group Skills, and Research Methods and Analysis 2, focusing on biological, cognitive, social, and developmental aspects of behaviour while strengthening methodological skills. The graduate stage forms the most extensive portion, including advanced coursework in areas such as Cognitive and Perceptual Psychology, Intercultural and Indigenous Psychologies, Personality and Assessment, Psychological Disorders, Health and Wellbeing, Adult Development and Ageing, and Advanced Theoretical Issues, along with professional and ethical training in psychology practice. It also includes advanced research training through higher-level methods courses. The program culminates in a two-part research dissertation that develops independent research capability. Elective courses further allow specialization across various psychological subfields, supporting flexibility and deeper expertise. Overall, the structure integrates scientific foundations, applied psychology, and research training to prepare students for advanced study or professional pathways in psychology.
