COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Music program develops creative, technical, and industry-ready skills for a career in the modern music and creative industries. It is structured across introductory, developing, and graduate levels, supported by elective study. The introductory stage (84 units) builds foundational abilities in songwriting, performance, production, communication, and creative entrepreneurship through courses such as introduction to songwriting and production, performance, marketing essentials, and communication for creative professionals. The developing stage (108 units) expands students’ artistic and professional capabilities with subjects including performance, songwriting, music and pop culture, music and sound for screen, social media content creation, photography for creative industries, cultural diversity, and the business of creativity. This stage also strengthens critical thinking and creative practice through theoretical study. At the graduate level (60 units), students undertake advanced applied learning through performance, production, music video creation, and a work-integrated learning project, alongside industry-focused study in events and creative business management. These experiences help students apply their skills in real-world creative environments. Additionally, students complete 36 units of electives, allowing further specialization or exploration across creative fields. Overall, the program blends artistic development with technical production skills and industry knowledge, preparing graduates for careers as performers, songwriters, producers, content creators, and professionals in the wider music and creative industries, including media, events, and entertainment sectors.
