COURSE CURRICULUM
This Bachelor of Laws / Criminology and Justice program integrates legal education with criminology and social science to build a strong understanding of crime, justice systems, and legal practice. It is structured across introductory, developing, and graduate stages, alongside specialised electives and a law extended minor. The introductory stage (132 units) establishes foundational knowledge in law, criminology, sociology, and human behaviour, covering subjects such as introduction to law, torts, criminal law and procedure, law and society, criminology, crime and punishment, policing, and Australian social systems. The developing stage (108 units) builds deeper legal and criminological understanding through property law, constitutional law, contract law, international law, civil procedure, applied crime prevention, professional development, and social research methods. At the graduate level (120 units), students undertake advanced studies in equity and trusts, corporations law, administrative law, evidence, ethics and integrity in criminology, diversity in crime and justice, negotiation and dispute resolution, professional conduct, community legal practice, and a legal research project. Students also complete 48 units of specialised criminology electives from areas such as criminal profiling, forensic science, youth justice, cybercrime, restorative justice, victim support, and international justice. Additionally, they select a 72-unit Law Extended Minor in advocacy and litigation, civil obligations, or specialised legal studies. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in law, policing, corrections, policy, justice services, and broader criminal justice and social reform roles.
