COURSE CURRICULUM

The program consists of a structured combination of core law and arts study components totaling multiple course groups. It begins with introductory courses (96 units) covering foundational Humanities and Arts subjects, including research and communication in HASS, legal foundations such as torts, criminal law, legal interpretation, and the relationship between law and society, along with an introduction to Indigenous Australia. This progresses into developing courses (84 units) that build intermediate legal knowledge through subjects like property law, constitutional law, contract law, international law, and civil procedure, alongside a planning course for future academic and career directions. Graduate-level study (96 units) advances into specialised and professional legal areas including equity and trusts, corporations law, administrative law, evidence, negotiation and dispute resolution, professional conduct, community legal practice, and a legal research project. Students also complete a 12-unit applied learning requirement via either a work-integrated project or a social sciences and humanities project. In addition, they must complete either one Arts major (96 units) or two Arts minors (48 units each), choosing from disciplines such as history, sociology, criminology, international studies, journalism, geography, and others, with some options restricted by campus availability. A 72-unit Law Extended Minor is also required, selected from advocacy and litigation, civil obligations, or specialised legal streams. Finally, students complete 24 units of electives to tailor their degree.
