COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation in legal knowledge, reasoning, and professional legal practice. The program begins with introductory courses that cover the fundamentals of law, legal interpretation and persuasion, torts, criminal law and procedure, and the relationship between law and society. These subjects help students understand how the legal system operates and how legal principles are applied in practice. In the developing stage, students study core areas of law including property law, constitutional law, contract law, international law, and civil procedure, which provide essential knowledge of both public and private legal systems. At the graduate level, students advance to more specialised and applied areas such as equity and trusts, corporations law, administrative law, evidence, negotiation and dispute resolution, professional conduct, and community legal practice. These courses develop practical legal skills required for professional work in the legal sector. The program also includes an extended minor, where students can specialise in areas such as advocacy and litigation or civil obligations, allowing them to tailor their degree to their career interests. Overall, the Bachelor of Laws equips students with critical thinking, legal research, advocacy, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for careers as legal practitioners, policymakers, or professionals in justice and regulatory fields.
