COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Health Science curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in health, wellbeing, and public health while allowing specialisation through an extended major. The program begins with introductory courses that cover key areas such as thinking about health, Indigenous wellbeing, bioscience, environment and climate impacts on health, public health foundations, and science research methods. These subjects help students understand the biological, social, and environmental factors that influence health outcomes in individuals and communities. Students then complete required courses depending on their chosen pathway, such as behavioural health or introductory chemistry, ensuring alignment with specific extended majors like Applied Environmental Health, Applied Health Promotion, Global Public Health, or Indigenous Health and Wellbeing. A developing course in health research and evidence further strengthens students’ ability to critically analyse health information and apply evidence-based approaches. The program allows students to specialise through one extended major, which provides in-depth knowledge and practical skills in a chosen area of public health. Elective courses give additional flexibility to explore related interests. Overall, the degree prepares graduates to address complex health challenges, promote wellbeing, and contribute to improved health outcomes in diverse communities through roles in public health, health promotion, environmental health, and community health services.
