COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Environmental Science curriculum is designed to build strong scientific knowledge and practical skills for understanding and managing natural ecosystems and environmental systems. The program begins with introductory courses covering animal biology, earth surface processes, environmental management, cell biology, biodiversity, chemistry, science research methods, and general scientific principles. These foundational subjects help students develop an understanding of how natural systems function and how environmental issues are studied. In the developing stage, students study plant and animal ecology, soil science, weather and climate, geographic information systems, hydrology, geomorphology, and advanced research methods and statistics. These courses strengthen analytical, fieldwork, and data interpretation skills needed for environmental analysis. At the graduate level, students focus on specialised areas such as environmental chemistry, restoration ecology, population ecology and genetics, and coastal geomorphology, providing deeper insight into ecosystem processes and environmental change. A key feature of the program is a practical learning component, where students complete field studies, special research projects, or workplace learning experiences, allowing them to apply scientific knowledge in real-world contexts.
