COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Biomedical Science at UniSC is a structured program that provides students with a strong foundation in medical and biological sciences, focusing on how the human body functions and how diseases develop. The degree begins with introductory courses covering health concepts, human physiology, anatomy, medical science foundations, introductory chemistry, and science research methods. Students also choose foundational bioscience subjects such as cell biology or introductory bioscience. In the developing stage, students study key biomedical areas including medical genetics, pharmacology, integrated physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and microbiology, which help them understand the biological processes underlying health and disease. The graduate-level courses include immunology and pathophysiology, providing deeper insights into how the immune system works and how diseases affect body systems. Students also complete an advanced elective such as clinical placement, special research project, clinical embryology, or professional skills development in biomedical science, allowing them to gain practical or research experience. Throughout the program, students build strong scientific, analytical, and laboratory skills. Overall, this degree prepares graduates for careers in biomedical research, healthcare support industries, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and clinical settings, as well as further study in medicine, laboratory science, or other health-related postgraduate pathways.
