COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) Honours at UniSC is a structured one-year advanced program that combines specialised coursework with an independent research dissertation. The coursework component includes four key subjects: Research Methods and Analysis 4, which builds advanced statistical and research skills; Advanced Theoretical Issues in Psychology, which explores complex psychological theories and current academic debates; Professional Practice of Psychology, which introduces real-world applications of psychology in professional settings; and Ethical and Professional Issues in Psychology, which focuses on the legal and ethical responsibilities of psychologists in Australia. Alongside coursework, students complete a major dissertation component, which involves two parts: Research Dissertation A and Research Dissertation B. In this stage, students conduct an independent research project under academic supervision, investigating a specific topic of interest in psychology. This process helps develop strong research design, data analysis, critical thinking, and academic writing skills. The dissertation is a key requirement of the honours degree and demonstrates a student’s ability to contribute to psychological research. Overall, this program prepares students for advanced postgraduate study, including master’s programs required for professional psychologist registration, and builds a strong foundation in research, ethics, and professional psychological practice within the Bachelor of Behavioural Science framework.
