COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts major in Journalism at UniSC consists of eight core courses that provide students with comprehensive training in modern media and news reporting. The program begins with News and Reporting, where students learn the basics of journalism, including how to gather information, write news stories, and report accurately on current events. This is followed by Digital Journalism, which focuses on producing content for online platforms and understanding the evolving digital media landscape. Students also study Podcasting and Radio News, gaining skills in audio storytelling and broadcast journalism, and Media Law and Ethics, which covers the legal and ethical responsibilities of journalists. Feature Writing develops long-form storytelling skills, while Video Production and Television Journalism introduces students to visual media and broadcast techniques. Advanced courses such as Investigative and Data Journalism teach students how to analyse complex information and uncover in-depth stories using research and data. The final course, Newsroom, provides a practical, real-world experience simulating a professional media environment. Throughout the major, students build strong communication, research, and multimedia skills. Overall, this Journalism major prepares graduates for careers in print, broadcast, digital media, podcasting, and investigative journalism within the Bachelor of Arts framework.
