COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts major in International Studies at UniSC consists of eight core courses that provide a strong understanding of global politics, international relations, and contemporary world issues. Students begin with Introduction to International Relations and Politics, which builds foundational knowledge of how countries interact and how global systems operate. They then study Global Environmental Politics, which explores how environmental issues influence international decision-making. The program also includes History of Nationalism and National Identity, helping students understand how nations and identities are formed over time, and Power, Politics and the Media, which examines the influence of media on global political processes. Students further explore International Justice and Human Rights, focusing on global legal systems and ethical issues, along with Forces of Change in International Politics, which analyses major global transformations and power shifts. Advanced subjects such as Rights and Justice in a Multispecies World and International Relations Theory and Practice develop deeper analytical and theoretical understanding of global systems and justice frameworks. Throughout the major, students build strong skills in critical thinking, research, communication, and analysis. Overall, this program prepares graduates for careers in diplomacy, foreign affairs, international organisations, government, NGOs, media, and global policy-making within the Bachelor of Arts framework.
