COURSE CURRICULUM

The Geography major within the Bachelor of Arts at UniSC is designed to help students understand the relationship between people, places, and the environment through eight structured courses. The program begins with foundational subjects such as The Changing Planet and Space, Place and the Anthropocene, which introduce key concepts about environmental change, human impact, and spatial relationships. Students then progress to more specialised studies including Hydrology and Geomorphology, which examines water systems and landform processes, and Landscapes, Place and People, which explores how humans interact with and shape environments. Advanced technical and applied skills are developed through Mapping with Drones, enabling students to collect and analyse spatial data, and Coastal Geomorphology, which focuses on coastal processes and environmental change. The program also includes Globalisation, Development and Indigenous Peoples, which examines social, cultural, and economic dimensions of geography, and Geo-ethics: Plants, Animals and People, which addresses ethical issues related to environmental management and sustainability. Throughout the major, students build strong analytical, research, and fieldwork skills, allowing them to interpret complex environmental and social data. Overall, this Geography major prepares graduates for careers in environmental management, urban planning, conservation, sustainability, and government or research roles within the broader Bachelor of Arts framework.
