COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts program at UniSC is structured to provide students with a balanced foundation in humanities, social sciences, and practical career development skills through a mix of core, specialised, and elective courses. In the introductory stage (36 units), students develop essential academic and communication skills through courses such as Communicating Your World: Research and Communication in HASS, Understanding Your World: Introduction to HASS Theory, and Introduction to Indigenous Australia, which help build awareness of culture, society, and research methods. The developing stage (12 units) focuses on Planning Your World: Your Future Directions, allowing students to reflect on career pathways and personal academic goals. Students also complete 12 units from applied learning options such as a Work Integrated Learning Project or a Social Sciences and Humanities Project, which provide real-world experience and project-based learning. A major component of the degree is the Extended Major, Majors, and Minors section worth 192 units, where students specialise in chosen fields such as history, sociology, politics, or communication, gaining deep subject expertise. Additionally, 36 units of electives allow flexibility to explore other areas of interest. Overall, this structure ensures students develop strong research, communication, and critical thinking skills while preparing for diverse careers in education, media, public service, and global industries.
