COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Theological Studies is a postgraduate program designed to provide advanced knowledge and skills in theology and its related disciplines. Graduates develop a comprehensive understanding of key sources, terms, and concepts while mastering research principles, analytical methods, and communication skills applicable to theological inquiry. The program equips students with the ability to interpret and critically reflect on a range of theological topics, considering historical and contemporary contexts, and to generate and evaluate ideas for professional practice and further learning. Graduates can articulate complex theological insights clearly to both specialist and non-specialist audiences and apply relevant theological and hermeneutical skills through substantial research projects, a capstone experience, or other scholarly work.The course consists of 288 points, structured to include 72 points of postgraduate foundational units across at least three fields, 120 points of elective units across multiple fields, and either a capstone unit of at least 24 points or a 48-point minor thesis. Additional postgraduate units can also be undertaken to deepen expertise and broaden engagement with theological disciplines. This combination of rigorous coursework, research, and practical application ensures graduates are well-prepared for professional roles, leadership positions in faith-based contexts, and further academic study.
